It’s Sunday and you have a dinner date! What to do? What to wear? What to cook? Well, calm down because I got your back. How about..”Pasta Bolognese” it’s easy and delish! You can’t go wrong with this one and you’ll date will be pleasingly impressed.

Ingredients:
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 onion, diced
– 2 carrots, peeled and diced
– 2 celery stalks, diced
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 lb ground beef
– 1 lb ground pork
– 1 cup dry red wine
– 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
– 2 tablespoons tomato paste
– 1 cup beef broth
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1 teaspoon dried basil
– 1 bay leaf
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 1 lb pasta of your choice (spaghetti, rigatoni, fettuccine, etc)
– Grated parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions:

1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions, carrots and celery. Cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.

2. Add the ground beef and pork. Cook until browned and crumbled, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.

3. Pour in the red wine and simmer for 3-4 minutes to reduce slightly.

4. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, oregano, basil and bay leaf. Season with salt and pepper.

5. Bring to a simmer and let the sauce simmer for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

6. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente.

7. Remove the bay leaf from the bolognese sauce. Toss the cooked pasta with the bolognese sauce. Serve topped with grated parmesan cheese.

Enjoy this hearty and flavorful pasta bolognese! The sauce can also be made in advance and frozen for up to 3 months. Simply thaw in the refrigerator before using.

Good things could follow after a meal like this if your rap game is on point. That’s another post.
