How to Become a Cigar Sommelier While Living The Over 40 & Killing It Lifestyle.
Getting a cigar sommelier certification is not as easy as it seems. There are not many organizations that offer this training. To become a cigar sommelier, you will have to study cigars for a number of years. You will also have to learn how to make the best pairings with alcoholic beverages.
The most important part of becoming a cigar sommelier is knowing the history of cigars. You should know what the cigars are made of, where they are grown and where they are manufactured.
You may also have to learn the art of rolling a cigar. This is the only way to know if the cigar is worth buying.
In addition to learning the cigar-making process, you will also have to learn about cigar blending. This will allow you to create your own unique pairings.
The pairing menu is categorized by strength, peaty, and sweet. You will also learn how to recognize the most important flavors, such as vanilla and chocolate.
The International Association of Cigar Sommeliers (IACS) is an organization that has only been around for a few years. They offer a number of certifications, including the Cigar Sommelier Tobacconist (CCST) course.
Another educational program is the Cigar Sense. This is a web-based course that provides a detailed database to help you identify the various sensory characteristics of cigars. It also includes a number of reviews and shelf talkers. It has a few flaws, however.
The IACS Cigar Sommelier Certificate is a degree that provides the most comprehensive cigar education. It will also allow you to perform complex organoleptic analysis and suggest extraordinary pairings.
